Almost There!

With the site about 75% done and only a few major pages remaining in terms of concept and development, I just wanted to post this quick little blog because…

1. I’d like to have at least 3 blogs up by the time the site officially launches.
2. I feel really accomplished right now with how the site looks.

The 8 Kinds of Smiles website has really been a long time coming. I think I’ve had a landing page up on the site for about 6 months now. The problem was that I was either always engaged on a project and hence didn’t have time or it was just really difficult for me to scrounge up the effort to take on such a big undertaking. In recent months, as more people have started contacting me I wanted to really start buckling down to hammer this thing out.

I first started on it in early December. I was excited as a kid in a candy store as the possibilities were pretty limitless. I thought about functionality a lot and what I wanted the site to be able to do and convey. I then found the appropriate web tools and extensions that would enable me to go about doing these things. By mid December, I had gotten most of the site down in terms of its aesthetics and visual style. Then winter break hit, and I had a one month hiatus where I didn’t work on the site. That’s the thing with big projects like this–you gotta keep feeding on the drive that you have otherwise the fire can easily go out.

Anyways so it got to this past week, and I just finally decided that you know what? I’m going to finish this thing. As I got more and more into and started to really see what the finished site was going to look like, I got excited again. And that’s why I’m writing this post now. Not to sound arrogant or anything, but I’m really happy with how the website turned out. I’ve built a few other websites before, but this one definitely stands out above those past ones. I think a lot of it had to do with how nitpicky I was about certain things down to mere pixels and hex color codes.

At this point, I just mainly have the portfolio and clients pages to build out. They’re big pages of course, but I’m excited to see this thing finished. I’m hoping it’ll be very, very soon.

I was thinking of a Valentine’s Day weekend public release. Or is that a little too tacky? Haha.

Anyways cheers to how awesome technology is these days that even a film and video centric guy like me can build a website that looks pretty darn good!
